Speaker Bios

Robert Stempien, AIA
Senior Vice President, Plante Moran CRESA
Encompassing more than 30 years of design and construction experience, Robert Stempien, AIA, has led project teams through the interview process in a business development role, to now being on the other side of the table, listening to AEC project teams present for the clients he represents. 

Robert is also a registered architect in the state of Michigan, has a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Lawrence Technological University. He spent much of his career at Barton Malow, but prior to joining Plante Moran Cresa, Robert was vice president at Ruby + Associates, the largest structural engineering firm in Michigan.


Paul Bemis
Project and Business Development Manager, Clark Construction
A 20-year veteran in the AEC industry, Paul is responsible for pre-sell and presentation development for Clark Construction. He has extensive knowledge with presentation outline and delivery. His experience includes facilitating presentation training, as well as tactical winning sales strategies and implementation. He has developed the “Dos and Dont’s of Presentations” training specifically for the AEC industry.

Prior to working at Clark Construction, Paul was a Director of Business Development for Barton Malow. He has education experience at Ferris State University and Macomb Community College.
